Bruce Wall Ministries was founded in 1988 with the following mission:
“Bruce Wall Ministries' commitment is to bring and accentuate hope and a future to children, youth and families primarily in the greater Boston area.
Programs exist to meet tangible needs and build personal strength in the areas of education, employment, technology, spiritual development and economic sufficiency.
We firmly believe God’s people should model and value God’s love for others by the sharing of skills, knowledge, resources, and values.”
Jeremiah 29:11,
1 Corinthians 12:12-25
Each program in Bruce Wall Ministries supports or underscores an important aspect of the organization's mission. Programs are the vehicles through which we help provide practical solutions to everyday needs and demonstrate God’s love to people.
Bruce Wall Ministries began by offering court advocacy support to those involved in juvenile court proceedings, assisted families with counseling and after school tutoring mobilization efforts to underserved communities and city wide man. It was also during this period that the seeds were sown for outreach and community mobilization which continue to this day.
A recent conversation with a current staff member exemplifies the philosophy and commitment of Bruce Wall Ministries.
Cynthia is currently trying hard to get her life back together. She has established goals for herself and at 44 is finally focused on reaching them. She is the first one to admit she learned the hard way and it didn’t have to be this way.
Cynthia met Rev. Wall and the Ministry some 13 years ago. She blew off what the Ministry could do for her to get high, run with the wrong people which eventually ended her up in prison where she served 10 years.
Through the course of the 10 years the Ministry stood with her through phone calls, visits, services at the prison, packages and encouragement. Though embarrassed, she returned to the community that she had rejected some 10 years earlier.
After demonstrating an honest desire to change Cynthia was offered an entry level job through the Ministry. She is 6 months into her job.
Cynthia is an adult woman in whom the Ministry has made a long term investment. Her example speaks to our commitment to walk with people through the challenges of life and help them develop to their fullest potential.
Bruce Wall Ministries is governed by a board of directors, whose role and responsibility it is to set policy for the organization, help fulfill the mission, maintain fiscal oversight and fundraise.
The staff of Bruce Wall Ministries has an executive director with over 15 years of social work and ministry experience.
Each program is directly over seen by a Coordinator or Director. The Director of the computer center for example comes with 20 years of experience from Children’s Hospital where she was in charge of technology training for staff, from entry level workers to physician researchers.
The staff also includes a part time administrator, volunteers and AMERICORP staff.
